How It All Started
Eric Anglea, founder of Liberty Big Top Food Pantry, is an example of someone whose life has been radically transformed, as a result of his surrender to the Lord. As a young man, Eric lived a life apart from God. Driven by the void in his heart, Eric sought out drugs, alcohol and partying as a way of achieving personal fulfillment and satisfaction. The friendships he developed only fed this desire. It was not long before he found himself both literally and spiritually in jail.
In 2010, Eric accepted Jesus as his Savior and surrendered his life to the Lord. His sin was nailed to the cross that day, and a new passion was awakened. He ended his association with drugs and alcohol and found permanent fulfillment in his relationship with Jesus. Since then, the Holy Spirit has given him a new heart and a desire to show others the love that was bestowed on him. Compelled by his new faith, Eric discovered his calling to provide food for the needy. He now finds his happiness by ” stepping into people’s lives and making a difference. With food, personal products, and so much more.” His desire is for people’s lives to be transformed by the power and love of Jesus.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
Matthew 25:35-36
Pastor Eric began his food ministry in 2012 by distributing food from the back of his truck to anyone in need. Shortly after that, the township granted him a permit to operate his ministry from a designated parking area. He now continues that same ministry at Liberty General Baptist Church in Auburn Hills.
